Free ICC Building and Fire Codes, Books and Standards

The International Code Council is offering free access to their I-Codes, books and Standards. Previously these documents were only available in internet (html) format. Now the International Code Council has expanded this great service of offering free access to their resources by making many of these documents available in downloadable PDF versions, that are fully searchable and have only a few limitations, such that there is no print capability. ICC Goes International in Abu Dhabi

ICC Global Abu DhabiICC is expanding the reach of its codes into Abu Dhabi. The new building code regulations are to be launched at the beginning of the year 2011. In order to facilitate a successful introduction and to speed up the adoption process, experts from the International Code Council (ICC) set up workshops in August of this year in Abu Dhabi to review and teach ICC fire and building codes with local construction industries and stakeholders. These free eCodes have limitations such that there are no search or print capabilities, though all the sections of the codes are available. Solar Power and Its Impact on Fire Protection

The National Association of State Fire Marshalls has formed an initiative to bridge the safety gap between conventional fire prevention practices, building codes, and fire suppression techniques including the use of renewable energy sources, such as solar power. Since the changes in the political climate in Sacramento in recent years, California has become very active in the International Fire and Building Codes. Nowhere has this change been more marked than in the number of contingents present from California at the International Code Council Code Development hearings in May 2007 in Rochester, New York.
