KnA’s Drive for the Homeless

December 12th, 2016

People Helping PeopleFor the holiday season, Klausbruckner & Associates joined ‘Think Dignity’, which is a local organization in San Diego. Their mission is to inspire, empower, and organize our community to advance basic dignity for those living on the street. Their yearly signature project is a Survival Supply Distribution which mirrored our goal and we teamed up with them for this event!

We were fortunate enough to create 100 care bags similar to the ones we have created in the past. All of us at KnA spent time organizing and putting together each care bag. Each of them contained a warm sleeping bag, scarves, towels, a pair of thick socks, water bottles, and miscellaneous personal items, such as shampoo, toothbrushes, toothpaste, combs, and tissues. Everyone helped out and donated for this event including Perfection Hair & Nails (La Jolla).

The organization expressed a need for these care bags in East Village, as there is a highly condensed homeless population in the area. Our office, as well as friends of the company, made our way down to the Neil Good Day Center, where the event took place, with all of our care bags to help pass them out, in addition to the donated items the organization received as well.

Every year, we make these bags for individuals in need, and we truly love being able to be so involved. Each of us there had a chance to pass out the bags while having a chance to hear the many different stories and hardships from the homeless recipients. As always, we were humbled by their immense gratitude, as well as overwhelmed by the large population in need.

Our distribution was very rewarding and we hope to keep growing this annual event, so we can continue to help those in need. We were able to help over 200 people in under 2 hours! We would like to thank all the volunteers and friends for their support and for helping us in reaching out and making a difference in the lives of so many who have so little.
